AAHHHHHH! This spoke to me on many levels. The hunger for simplicity in a constantly evolving and complex world whose primary focus is to feed off your attention with things, is real. Some advice as you approach this new and wonderful phase of your life, stand tall and proud in your decisions. I have many around me who’ve questioned why I don’t invest in more decor in my home or why I haven’t bought that one pretty thing at the clothing store for example, only to feel discomfort when being comforted with their own overconsumption habits. Simplicity for me has saved my life in many ways. To disconnect, is pure bliss.
What a great piece! I think being an active person, trying to do and know it all, is much better than being a passive person who doesn’t try to change its surroundings. With that said, you don’t lose anything from your wild run through life by turning your head around for a second and realise how far you’ve made it. Quite opposite, I think that acknowledgement is the greatest motivator to keep going.
One of my favourite quotes is by Arthur Schopenhauer - Each day is a little life: every waking and rising a little birth, every fresh morning a little youth, every going to rest and sleep a little death. Why not value these little lives as much as we value what we consider to be the big one?
all throughout reading this post i imagined screaming and crying in your face. it should be illegal to put such vulnerable, masterfully worded thoughts down that hit RIGHT home.
I really love this one, i relate a lot and your writing really makes me feel so much. I also want more simplicity, and I think that I’ll get it from removing and decluttering ruthlessly. I will come back to this post in 2025 (I have set a reminder for myself) ..
Not a word wasted. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
